Do you struggle with getting your mailing list to book appointments or getting your social media followers to sign up for emails? Your problem might be in your Call to Action. This guide will walk you through how to write the perfect CTA that turns followers into leads and turns leads into customers!
What is a CTA?
First things first, a Call to Action, also called a CTA, is what encourages your brides to perform a desired action on your website, social media, or emails. These are what catch the attention of brides and give them the final push to convert from visitor to lead or lead into a customer! But how do you write a CTA? Sadly there is not a one-size-fits-all, perfect CTA, but with our tips, you can write the perfect CTA for any occasion!
1. Start with a Strong Verb
Effective CTAs read as a command rather than a suggestion. To do this, start your CTA with a strong command verb such as “Try now”, “Sign up”, or “Book now”. CTAs aren’t meant to share more information so they should be short and use these verbs to encourage action. Whatever verb you choose, make sure it makes the action you want brides to take clear and relevant to the copy surrounding it.
2. Utilize FOMO
Now we’ve all heard of FOMO or the fear of missing out, but did you know that you can utilize it to your advantage when writing CTAs? Using words such as “VIP” or “Limited Time Only” can create a sense of urgency for brides and drive them to act now so they don’t miss out!
3. Provoke Emotion or Enthusiasm
Especially in the wedding industry, every step a bride takes with you is a new, exciting experience for them so don’t be afraid to show excitement! This could be done with word choice or simply by adding exclamation points to your CTA. Showing excitement as a brand can help humanize your writing and help brides decrease their anxiety about interacting with you, increasing the chance of them performing your desired action!
4. Use the Right Colors
Along with writing the perfect CTA with word choice and punctuation, the color you choose for your CTA button can also impact the likelihood for brides to convert. The chart below from Convertkit helps explain the emotions associated with the different colors and how to utilize them for CTA writing. Although color can be important, choose a color or shade consistent with your shop’s branding. Staying within your branding colors will help brides be able to trust the link and create a more comfortable experience for them.
