Making Engaging Content at The Bridal Market

As shop owners we have things that we must do for the shop. A big thing is buying inventory. So we get on a plane and we go to Atlanta or wherever and we get to look at beautiful gowns all day long. We get excited about bringing these home to our brides. We want to show them as soon as possible. So why don’t we?

Behind the scenes

By bringing the customer along with the journey and showing them sneak peaks of future inventory it entices them to follow along. We are always trying to create content that our consumers would not only “like” but also engage in. You have to keep it interesting and think like your customer in every post. What would they like to see? People love behind the scenes of a movie; they’ll love this too.

Let’s get into specificities

Post three to eight stories during your trip. One when the plane is taking off and say “We can’t wait ATL!” Once you arrive at the showroom include snippets of the dresses; perhaps a close up of the detailed lace and caption it “We can’t wait for you to see this!” The smaller the clip the more your client’s interest will peak. Build anticipation, make your customer WANT to see what you’re potentially purchasing for them. Post different things and keep your brand and bride in mind. Try to put yourself in their shoes when you’re posting at all times. You can use gifs or stickers to hide the bigger picture and when you do this you are creating mystery and again, peaking interest and engagement.

Returned home and forgot to post?

Hopefully you grabbed some pictures just for yourself because you were excited. If you did, great job. Go ahead and post it as a throwback and say something along the lines of “We went on a trip last weekend and we are so excited to show you some sneak peaks!” Did you already post about the trip when it was happening? Again, good job. Now just wait an appropriate amount of time and post a throwback picture from the trip. Didn’t take pictures at all? No matter what, good job. You’ll get some next time. You can still create content out of nothing. Take a photo of your shop and say “Went on a trip last weekend and we have some new inventory coming to join us soon!” You cannot go wrong with posting about this. Whether it’s late, on time, as long as you post you are rocking it.

Social media is not supposed to be this intimidating thing that takes up hours of your day.

As a new shop owner, a shop owner that has been around for 11+ years; social media is a tool. A tool to connect with your customers on a deeper level. It is supposed to be an extension of who you are as a brand. Utilize things you are already doing as shop owners as content and you will see your business grow.
