Hashtags are not just a trend from the 2000s – they are a GREAT way to reach your target audience! In order to reach your audience, however, you first need to know how to use them! Here are a few simple rules/tricks!
- You can put 10 #s per Instagram story
- Instagram Story Hack: make them the same color as your background and making the text very small so users can’t see them!
- You can put 30 #s per Instagram Post
- Instagram Post Hack: comment emojis on your post and respond to you own comment to hide them!
How to Find Hashtags
So, what hashtags should you use? A great way to start is by looking up keywords within your niche. For example, does your shop take pride in carrying size-inclusive dresses? Use hashtags with those keywords in! Another great way to find hashtags is by looking up other bridal shops to see what hashtags they use or follow! When finding hashtags, also keep in mind who your brides are and your bridal persona (find a buyer persona guide here)!
How to Tell If Your Hashtags Are Working
So, after using your newfound hashtags, how do you know if the ones you found are working? Instagram makes this super easy with analytics! However, you do need to have a creator/business Instagram account to see your analytics. (We definitely recommend this- check out this guide if you don’t have one!).
Once you have the correct type of account, you can find if your strategy is working by clicking “View Insights” on the bottom left of your post. Under the “Impressions”, find the line that says, “From Hashtags”.
This number will show you how many people have seen your post by searching your keywords!

After finding your keywords to use in your posts, what else are you supposed to do?
